Like divin in a bathtub!!! Stayed at Suites Bahia (nice rooms, close to the shore) and dove with Aqua Safari. They give a break for cash after 4 days diving.

Did 2 dives a day. EXTREMELY CLEAR water. There is a fee for the underwater preserve - 2 bucks a day per person gets you the wristband. Drinks and some snacks provided on board. Boats have a head and sundeck. Helpful staff, speak english well. Saw barracuda, sea turtles, LARGE tropicals, a few rays, LOTS of sponges.

P.S.: Watch out for fire coral.

COZUMEL, MEXICO - C-53 WRECK

Dive Access: Boat - Aqua Safari

Dove the wreck of the C-53. It was a US mine sweeper until sold to the Mexican Navy in 1962. Served as a rescue ship and patrolled for illegal arms and drugs until being scuttled in 1999 to create an artificial reef.

No penetration is allowed. Ship was prepped before sinking but jagged sharp edges remain. Watch out for currents when navigating around the back of the ship - stay close and on the bottom. Lots of fish, marine life is starting to grow.
