13-APR-2004 MEETING

Meeting Minutes For Desert Divers Of Idaho

Meeting of 4/13/04

The meeting was called to order by Arnie at 7:15pm. It was held at the Pizza Hut on Vista. There were 25 members present. Arnie told the club about the dive at Blueheart Springs on Saturday the 10th. There were 28 people that participated in the dive and picnic after the dive. The water was very clear and Earl did a fine job of organizing the trip.

A poker run in Arrow Rock was discussed and June 5th was decided as the best date for it. A poker run was described as a four sided compass course where teams pick a card out of a sack at each point. When you get out the person there will give you another card and then you have a poker hand. The people with the best hand will win prizes.

The scuba team for the fire department in McCall have a clean up of Payette Lake every year. They will be contacted to see if we can join them and coordinate our planned cleanup with theirs. Kenny Patterson, who is the head of the dive team, will be contacted.

Arnie mentioned that we may have a car wash to raise money for our club. More information will be coming in later meetings.

Some possible dive trip sites that were mentioned were Warm Lake, Red Fish and Little Payette Lake in Idaho and Crater Lake in Oregon. As a reminder, anyone can put together a trip. Just contact Chris and have him put it on the web site and start planning. Jon Schwartz suggested that anyone that has dived in other states should consider giving a talk at a meeting about their experience.

Arnie went over how to join the club and some of the things that we have been doing. There were many people at this meeting that were new and wanted to know more. She told about the trip to Edmonds that Michelle put together and the booth we had at the boat show and the trip to Blueeart Springs. Chris told about the web site and how to contact the officers and him.

Dirk gave a treasury report and there is $230.00 in the Clubs' treasury. He will be opening a checking account. Gary Parėnt mentioned that there are a number of companies that will match donations to non-profits. We will look into this. Chris will put information about the shirts on the web page. Bob Stein has a friend that does screen printing and may be able to help with this.

Arnie will talk to Eric Johnson, the regional DAN representative, about giving a talk at one of our meetings. The meeting will not be held on a Tuesday as he has other commitments on Tuesdays.

It was suggested that a link to a Yahoo Groups be created so that we could have someplace to leave messages about dive trips and to ask questions of the members by the members. Chris said he would look into this and see what he could do.

The next meeting will be a Dive Magic on May 11, 2004. Larry Hill and Tim Giltzow will give a two part presentation on equipment maintenance. He will complete it at the following meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00pm.

Dirk Spackman, Sec/Treas.
