Meeting of 6/14/2005

The meeting was held at Bob Rice Pond. Earl, Wade and Jon set up a compass course for the poker run. Seven divers (Wade, Jon, Earl, Denise, Mike, Jim Hull, Harvey and Dean) and two non diving members (Dirk and Jody Hull) were present. Jon Schwartz did more then his share by supplying the laminated cards, the floats and helping set up AND take down the course. Thanks Jon!!!

The weather was very nice, and the vis in the pond was pretty good for Bob Rice, about 3 feet. Earl and Denise were the first to complete the course and Earl’s hand turned out to be the one to beat, two jacks-Ace hi. Some of the other divers had trouble finding all the buoys, so they didn’t get full hands. Three people of the six competitors actually got full hands. Only five wanted to put into the $5 pot so Earl got the $25. He donated his winnings to the club. So one of these times, pizza will partly be on Earl.

Dean and I were the non divers and kept track of cards, money and made sure, with Wades help, that everyone was being safe and not having any trouble. There were a lot of people on the green belt and we shared the water with kayakers, swimmers (human and dogs), and fishermen. Everyone agreed that it was a fun time.

The next meeting will be on July 12. Any time change will be announced when the location is announced. So check your email (Dean!) and the web page once in a while this month.
